Love it or loathe it, the bachelor party  -  or stag-do or buck’s party, as it’s sometimes known  -  is an inescapable rite of passage for men who are planning to get married.

There are lots of different ways to celebrate a bachelor party  –  from the small and sophisticated to the loud and raucous.

One of the most popular ways to celebrate is to get together a group of friends and head off on a trip somewhere  –  nothing beats a weekend away where you can laugh, reminisce, and have a good time with your mates.

One of the criteria for a bachelor party trip is that your chosen destination has to be easy to get to  –  generally you’re looking for a weekend away.

If you live in Europe, then France is easy to get to and there’s a great range of destinations to choose from.

It may be the obvious choice, but it’s hard to go past Paris. Whether you’re lounging in the cafes of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, kicking off your night in the bars of Le Marais, or just feeling a bit arty and bohemian as you wander the narrow streets of Montmartre. There’s nothing quite like a bit of Parisian glamour to put a spring in your step and a smile on your face.

The bustling port of Marseilles is vibrant and fun. Imagine long lunches of sitting in the sun, feasting on the freshest seafood, and drinking crisp, dry, white wine. Lots and lots of crisp, dry, white wine. The coast along here has lots of little fishing villages to explore.

Once the holiday destination of choice for the royalty of Europe, there’s a sense of slightly faded old-world glamour about Biarritz that is incredibly charming. If you’re feeling active, you could all sign up for surfing school, or just kick back, enjoy the sunshine, and dine of the local Basque cuisine.

Immerse yourself in the classic French countryside with a stay in Aix-en-Provence. As well as the stunning landscapes of Provence with it’s stone houses and fields of lavender, the old town of Aix is stunning and there are great markets to explore as well as gorgeous cafes where you can sit drinking kir royales as you watch the world go by.

Boasting one of the longest shopping streets in France, there’s an effortless sense of style about Bordeaux that makes this the perfect place for dressing up and hitting the town for cocktails. Of course, this region is famous for its wine, so the obvious thing to do would be to combine your bachelor party celebrations with a bit of wine tasting.
